PUPPY PRESCHOOL COURSE

Puppy Preschool is open to pups 8-16 weeks old. It is a 7-week progressive course. The class is based on “Sirus Puppy Training” by Dr. Ian Dunbar with strictly “Positive Reinforcement” (using food with verbal reinforcement to train new behaviors). The class structure includes off leash socialization with puppies and people, basic obedience work: sit, down, leave it, loose leash walking and foundation recall. Educational information is discussed such as proper puppy rearing, avoiding unwanted behavior, crate training, housebreaking, nutrition, jumping, mouthing, management and many other issues associated with puppy-hood. Upon completion of Puppy Preschool, students can move onto Beginner Obedience 101.

BEGINNER OBEDIENCE 101 COURSE

Beginner Obedience 101 is open to all dogs 16 weeks or older. This 7-week progressive course is strictly a “positive reinforcement” course, using the lure and reward method (using food with verbal reinforcement to train new behaviors), covering all the basic foundations of obedience: sit, down, stay, loose-lead walking, recall, attention, and good manners. Behavioral issues are covered such as problem-solving, re-training, the different types of collars and their usage, understanding canine behavior, nutrition, and other common issues associated with dog rearing. This course is designed in a two-part series and it is recommended that all students continue into the Advanced Beginner Obedience 201 Course upon successful completion of the Beginner Obedience 101 Course.

ADVANCED BEGINNER OBEDIENCE 201 COURSE

Open to all dogs that have successfully completed a CSC Basic Beginner Obedience 101 Course, or whose training methods and level has been evaluated and considered comparable. It is a 7-week progressive course. The class is strictly a “positive reinforcement” class and is a continuation of all basic obedience – sit, down, stay, loose leash walking, waits, come when called (recalls), leave it, and good manners. Emphasis is placed on stronger & more secure recalls at greater distances, quicker response to commands, all through elevated distractions.

LIFE SKILLS PUPPY FUNDAMENTALS

This is a seven-week progressive course open to dogs 8-20 weeks of age and small or shy dogs under 1 year of age. This is an excellent class for owners looking to grow their puppy into a confident and well-mannered family member. This class is equally suited for students who would like to build a solid foundation for dog sports and competitions. Students are taught using fun training techniques and positive reinforcement. Our goal is to teach life skills and basic obedience skills with an emphasis on good manners, focus/attention, self-control, recalls, loose leash walking, and handling skills useful for general wellness care, veterinary visits, and grooming. This class strives to socialize your puppy in a way that ensures lots of positive experiences that your puppy will generalize to all new experiences in the future. Our goal is to help build happy, confident dogs!

LIFE SKILLS FOUNDATION OBEDIENCE 101

This 7-week course designed for all dogs 16 weeks and older. No prerequisites. A great course whether your dog has had obedience training or not. It is a perfect course for family dogs, sports/competition dogs and dogs that struggle to focus, settle, walk on lead and recall etc. We learn to recognize ‘Who is our dog?’ and then train each dog as an individual. This course is more than basic obedience. The teaching builds a relationship, connection, bond and trust with our dog. It is a course that teaches focus, self-control and desire for proximity to us among other skills that are a complement to the basic obedience skills (sit, down, stand and stay). Each dog will also learn to go to ‘place' and each lesson includes practice on a raised bed along with the weekly lesson. With these combined skills, your dog will learn a foundation of life skills that will enable them to have great manners and to make the right decisions when faced with the unpredictability of real-world situations.

- Life Skills Advanced Obedience 201 is for dogs that have completed the Life Skills Foundation Obedience 101 class. The Life Skills Advanced Obedience 201 is a 7-week session that builds on the Life Skills Foundation 101 behaviors that were taught. The class uses that foundation of skills to test those skills in real life set-up situations in a safe and controlled environment. We work out of our gated areas much more and will add distractions of other dog and handler teams working at the same time with distance. We will continue to incorporate the Bed/Mat work as we hone our skills. As always in Life Skills Obedience, we look at the dog and handler teams as individuals and the exercises are tailored accordingly. Life Skills Advanced Obedience 201 is a lot of fun! You will be amazed to see everything come together! Your dog is happy to be working with you. Those pesky distractions are now just acknowledged by your dog as he walks on by. We hope you will join us on your journey to being Real World Ready!
